Our Lead Tutors

Meet the Husband-Wife Duo That Founded  Us

Katie

With experience as both a tutor and a classroom teacher, Katie feels that seeing how a subject relates to the world around them, helps a student WANT to learn the subject, which then makes it easier for them to grasp the concepts.  By helping students understand how a topic is relevant to their own life, she can focus on a strong conceptual basis in her teaching.  Katie also employs the use of analogies to help her students visualize challenging concepts.

Katie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina, with a cognate in education.  She has completed several graduate level education courses and previously worked as a part-time teacher with a local private school.  Her teaching and tutoring experience is primarily with middle school and high school students, although she has tutored general physics and chemistry at the college level, as well.  In her free time, she loves reading, experimenting with new recipes, and gardening with her sons.

Tawhid

Tawhid’s approach to tutoring focuses on ensuring his students understand the basic principles of their subject for a firm foundation, and on sparking an interest in learning for his students. He tries to employ patience and understanding in his teaching methods and to discover where a student’s struggle originates.  Although his experience as a tutor spans a variety of courses and grade levels, he has always had a particular interest in math and science, coming from a family of engineers, chemists, and teachers.

Tawhid has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and likes outdoor activities. Tawhid is also a certified soccer coach through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He currently trains students privately for physical fitness and personal interest, as well as strengthening soccer skills needed to compete competitively.

Nick

For Nick, learning is a huge passion, along with watersports, music, technology and art. He hopes that through tutoring he can help to pass that passion for learning and experience in STEM & problem solving on to the next generation of critical thinkers.  He firmly believes that every student has strengths and weakness, and that if you can utilize these strengths, you can overcome trouble areas and achieve any goal.

Nainaa

With every student Nainaa works with, she works to first try and figure out their strong suits and their trouble areas.  She feels this helps her better understand their needs.  Over the past five years, she has been a student tutor, developing her experience and her own personal teaching style.  Nainaa believes that she has learned many things from her students, in addition to them learning from her, and hopes this will strengthen her skills as she pursues a career as a Secondary Math teacher.

Her tutoring experience spans a wide age group, with time spent on children from preschool up through high school, but teaching Algebra & Geometry are her passions.  She is currently finishing up her Math Degree at USC, and is looking forward to moving on to her Masters in Teaching
